The Psychology Laboratories are research centers where the department’s faculty members conduct their research, and the undergraduate students do their volunteer work in and out of the classroom.
Studies are carried out in different fields in the Psychology Laboratories:
- In the studies conducted by Asst. Prof. Ahu Gökçe, subjects such as visual attention, memory-attention relationship, and spatial perception are studied using experimental methods.
- Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Harma, on the other hand, researches issues such as interpersonal relationships and communication, partner perception in romantic relationships, and its effects on behavioral processes.
- While examining the autobiographical recall processes in both individual and collective memory, Asst. Prof. Sezin Öner investigates the individual and environmental factors that determine the encoding and remembering processes.
- Assoc. Prof. Onurcan Yılmaz is interested in the cognitive and psychological causes and consequences of moral judgments and behaviors.
- Asst. Prof. Aslı Aktan-Erciyes conducts various studies on children and adults, examining the effects of the acquired second language on cognitive and mother tongue domains.
- Asst. Prof. Berna Uzundağ researches the development of attention in infants, the effects of environmental factors on this development, and children’s cognitive development with test and observation methods.
There is the equipment to carry out computer-based experimental studies and make physiological measurements in the Psychology Laboratories. They are suitable environments to host families with children and work with children.
