“Unfinished yet beautiful.” This is how we decided to approach our project. Instead of focusing on modern beauty in objects, we sought to seek out the broken and the incomplete, look at them from a new perspective, and transform them into new beauty standards. We decided to use both our phone cameras and a camera to have a variety of shots and quality pictures.
Before our journey started, we discussed what we wanted to be our primary main focus. We asked ourselves what the phrase “unfinished narrative” means to us, and we worked from there. We decided to look for construction sites, budlings buildings still in the building process, and old abandoned sites that were not finished. We also viewed this project from another point of view and looked for unfinished artwork s , sculptures, or paintings in our way. Anything that tells a story that is yet to be finished had the potential of being included in our photo essay. The subject of our discussion is unfinished narratives. Our group chose Taksim as the destination for many reasons. One is that it is such a large area with many historical backgrounds. And it inhabits many buildings from the past, the present, and the near future.
Our adventure began. We began shooting in Taksim and worked our way to Galata Port. We saw several incomplete structures on our trip. We first We met at an airport shuttle service called Havabus Taksim. There was a large scene of a great construction site at that place. The construction project has been in work for many years. We thought that it was the perfect starting point in our journey. The magnificent sight of the enormous huge building site was strangely mesmerizing. Although it was incomplete, the old budlings buildings stacked next to one another had their beauty. Moreover, on the opposite side, there was a huge building that seemed quite contemporary and modern, with blue glass windows covering the exterior. It was a perfect illustration of how new and old can coexist.
